Drawing on an earlier phase of the project (WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE MAY BE) at Barbican, London, artistic director Zoe Svendsen has developed a multi-screen video installation which captures stories of a transformed city - a city which has undergone radical economic and social change and where ecological flourishing is the primary goal for all human (inter)activity.
Developed through a bespoke series of workshops in different locations, local communities come together with a range of experts – including architects, planners, economists, geographers – and actors tackle questions around climate change and environmental degradation through social transformation.
Starting with a plethora of stories describing a re-imagined future in London and Oslo this autumn, the installation will grow and develop as more stories and portraits are added to the constellation over the coming few years.
Factory of the Future (Oslo) was commissioned by Oslo Architecture Triennale and organised in collaboration with Oslo Design and Architecture Norway (DOGA).
Developed in the UK using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England with additional support from Cambridge Conservation Initiative, University of Cambridge, New Wolsey Theatre and METIS. Produced by Artsadmin and METIS.
