I am a Think Tank

An Artsadmin project allowing young people to express their socio-political opinions through processes including performance, discussion and happenings. The project involved a group of 16-25 year olds who met weekly between February and April ’08 to discuss political issues that affect them and their communities. Participants worked with artist Richard DeDomenici and a selection of invited guest lecturers to see how they can actively bring awareness to the issues affecting the group.

For all in Higher Education and interested in Freedom of Speech

The Academics for Academic Freedom Group

believe in the following two principles to be the foundation of academic freedom:

(1) that academics, both inside and outside the classroom, have unrestricted liberty to question and test received wisdom and to put forward controversial and unpopular opinions, whether or not these are deemed offensive, and

(2) that academic institutions have no right to curb the exercise of this freedom by members of their staff, or to use it as grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal.'

How to blog

You all probably know this but if not then have a quick read and you will be blogging in no time!

Heres a quick reference guide to blogging and how to upload images and video to the Thinktank blog.

1. Type in www.blogger.com to the address bar
2. Type in your email address and password (Richard will give you these in session 2)
3. Click on the new post icon (the one with a green + sign next to it)
4. Put a title to your post, if you want the title to link to another site (eg if it a talk by a group you might want to link to the groups website) then put the URL into the box that says link!
5. You can then type in your writing in the large text box.
6. If you want to link to something, like the site or location you are talking about in your text then open another tab or window and type in the website you want to link to, then highlight the URL and pass edit copy (or for the short cut press apple c (on macs) or control c (on a pc). Then go back into the blog site and click on the symbol of a chain over a world and then paste (edit paste or apple v /control v )the URL into the box that has popped up and press enter. The section will then appear in blue and underlined.
7. To add an image click on the little picture of a landscape (third icon from the right) then when the box pops up either choose to end an image from your computer or from the web.
8. Image from your computer: click on browse on the left hand side add the file you want and then choose where you want to position the image. If you are using an image on the web then just add the URL to the box on the right of the page and then choose the position. Then click on upload image.
9. To add a video from youtube or wikileaks just highlight and edit copy the embed section and paste it into the main text box on the blog, give it a title and it will show up when you view your blog.
